About the Donnybrook
Pittsburgh has a proud tradition of great Irish boxing. The Pittsburgh Donnybrook was first held in 2014 with Pittsburgh winning the prestigious Ambassador’s Cup. Drimnagh Boxing Club returned in 2015 and 2016 winning the prize on both occasions. Donnybrook 2023 will see Drimnagh back in Pittsburgh taking on the best of local athletes continuing the ties between our great city and Ireland.
About Drimnagh Boxing Club
Located in south Dublin city, Drimnagh Boxing Club have a proud tradition spearheaded by iconic Irish boxer Michael Carruth. Michael was the first boxer from Ireland to win an Olympic Gold Medal (Barcelona ’92), and is one of only four Irish athletes to ever win an Olympic Gold Medal. Since the Olympics, Michael has volunteered as a coach in the boxing club founded by his father, legendary Irish boxing coach Austin Carruth.
