The Ireland Institute of Pittsburgh was proud to host a Life Sciences business delegation to the Island of Ireland November 10-18, 2006. The Institute drew upon its many connections with political leaders, business contacts, and associates to offer a high-quality program that included transportation, lodging, and meals, as well as unique opportunities to network with contacts in the life sciences field. This delegation was the 13th business delegation conducted by the Institute in its mission to facilitate partnerships between Northern Ireland, Ireland, and Pittsburgh.
The delegation departed Friday, November 10 and returned Saturday, November 18. The program included participation in BioIreland 2006, an international biotechnology conference that took place in Dublin, Ireland Nov. 12-14. Also included were visits to various centers of excellence in science and medicine around the island of Ireland, including Queens University’s new Centre for Cancer Research in Belfast; and daily business matching.
